EnhancementCrew Leader
Enhancement Crew Leader must be thoroughly familiar with and able to perform all aspects of landscape maintenance/construction to include: planning work, plant layout / installation, installing annuals, perennials, mulching, pruning, scheduling, customer service, training, etc. The Enhancement Crew Leader directly oversees one or two crew members. He/ she must keep the Account Manager appraised of progress (or lack thereof) of all accounts while coordinating with crew members
Reports to: This position reports directly to the Operations Manager/ and or Account Manager.
Skill set and educational requirements: The Enhancement Crew Leader must possess the following skillset and background.
- Minimum of two years of landscape maintenance or construction. Including pruning, mulching, flower layout / installation and planting.
- Knowledge of plant material: Identification and cultural requirements.
- Commercial Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain.
- Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional or have the ability to obtain.
- Able to effectively oversee and train crew members.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
- Able to operate company equipment: skid steer, mini-excavator, mini-skid steer, tracked loader, chop saws, etc.
- Physically able to handle the work load of a Crew Leader or Crew Member.
- Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
- Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities:
- Has a minimum of three years of experience in landscape enhancement / construction work.
- Ability to properly prune following standard horticultural guidelines and oversee pruning crews.
- Able to operate company equipment: skid steer, mulch blowers , pruning shears etc.
- Able to perform all daily preventative maintenance (PM) on company equipment.
- Able to operate a transit, shoot grades and grade sites or ability to learn.
- Able to read basic landscape plans.
- Able to lay out a job site and order materials.
- Has the leadership capability and demeanor to effectively manage and direct a crew of two to four people.
- Ensures that jobs are kept on schedule and on budget.
- Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Ensures all workers’ compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately.
- Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.
- Looks for extras and converts them into change orders when appropriate.
- Ensures all change orders are processed correctly.
- Interfaces with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of job materials.
- Maintains a clean crew truck at all times.
- Able to fill out and process all necessary job paperwork, purchase orders, and time sheets, etc.
- Able to interact with clients, subcontractors, architects, etc. in a professional and competent manner.
- Able to train crew as a team and maintain a high level of morale.
- Ensures that job cost reports are properly analyzed.
- Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Able to work with minimal supervision but knows when to ask for assistance.
Salary, bonus, and/or commissions: Commensurate with experience
Appraisal criteria: The primary appraisal criteria for the Enhancement Crew Leader is able to supervise one or two Crew Members and to do so safely and profitably while keeping the Operations/ and or Account Manger appraised regarding the status of all on-going accounts.
